As a community, Indian-Americans are relatively new to America's melting pot. Some of us have tried to retain as much of what we know of the Indian culture as possible. Others have tried to immerse ourselves completely into the "American" way of life. Most of us, however, knowingly and unknowingly struggle with our Indian heritage and our American surroundings in an effort to determine who we really are and what we should become. As some of the first people to really experience what it means to be Indian-American, some of the struggles we endure are unique and personal; however, other experiences are shared throughout our community.

Prior decades of Indian-Americans have helped mold our image and fought to expand our opportunities. Our generation stands taller because we stand on their shoulders. Nevertheless, we are on a journey where we create our own trails and define our own identity, hopefully combining the best of being Indian and being American. The Indian-American experience we create will set the precedence for future generations as they make decisions that define their own self-image. At Indify, we recognize the uniqueness of the Indian-American identity and the value of community.

As Indian-American individuals, we are often faced with choices that are either characterized as "Indian" or "American." Ironically, we often fall somewhere right in the unrecognized middle.

Indify is an organization created to allow us to be exactly that: Indian-American.
